How to use OBD Service Deactivation -Configuring OBD
This module allows users to modify the communication mode of the OBD Dongle. Changing these settings is essential for managing power consumption, ensuring stealth (listen-only), or troubleshooting protocol discovery.
There are four available modes, each tailoring how the stacks and services interact with the vehicle.
| Mode / UI Selection | Technical State | Primary Use Case |
| Active Mode | The default setting. All services and ObdStacks are fully operational. | Standard Operation: Full read/write capabilities and standard data transmission. |
| All deactivated, no listen only | OBD, DTC, and ObdStacks are completely disabled. | Maximum Restriction: Minimum power draw with zero vehicle interaction. |
| Activated with Protocol autodetection disabled | Protocol autodetection is deactivated, but allows for manual connection configuration using ObdStacks setConnection. | Manual Configuration: Used when you need to bypass automatic protocol discovery and set the connection parameters manually. |
| Full passive mode, with listen only | ObdStacks remain active to allow for listen-only monitoring. | Stealth & Conflict Prevention: Silent bus monitoring without data transmission. Required if an OEM connected service (e.g., Mercedes me) is active on the vehicle to prevent dashboard error messages. |
| Passive mode with active connection | The OBD service is active only for protocol discovery. RPM requests for ignition simulation are disabled. | Troubleshooting: Used when ignition simulation is handled externally by the MDI_OBD_RPM database. |
